Being that today is 端午节 (dūan wǔ jíe)(Dragon boat festival) the word of the day is what I feel to be the tastiest part of the festival.
Word: zòngzi 粽子
Meaning: zongzi are dumplings made with glutinous rice (with other food mixed in to the rice… meat, nuts, mushrooms.etc.) then wrapped in bamboo, or reed leaves, and steamed.
Use: wǒmen méi *yìnián dūanwǔjíe de shíhòu bù kěnéng bù chī zòngzi.
我们每一年端午节的时候不可能不吃粽子。
Every Dragon boat festival day we have to eat zongzi.
Meaning: (n.) Chinese "college entrance exam" similar to the USA's SAT and ACT, but much more stressful. If you don't do well you will not be accepted into a "good" university.
Use: gāo kǎo wán le wǒmen dōu qīngsōng dūo le.
高考完了我们都轻松多了。
After finishing the "College entrance exam" we were much more relaxed.
