Meaning: Overseas Chinese (either of Chinese decent living outside of China, or a Chinese born individual who has immigrated out of China); in the USA also known as A.B.C= American Born Chinese; 侨居国外的中国人
Literal Translation: “chinese-live abroad”
Use: wǒ men *yì jīarén shì měigúo húaqíao.
我们一家人是美国华侨。
Our entire family are “American born Chinese”/overseas Chinese.
Meaning: (n.) Chinese "college entrance exam" similar to the USA's SAT and ACT, but much more stressful. If you don't do well you will not be accepted into a "good" university.
Use: gāo kǎo wán le wǒmen dōu qīngsōng dūo le.
高考完了我们都轻松多了。
After finishing the "College entrance exam" we were much more relaxed.
